A delicious Mediterranean-inspired dish combining seasoned grilled chicken with a rich, creamy feta tzatziki sauce wrapped in warm pita bread.

- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 pita breads
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1 cucumber, grated
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- Optional: Red onion slices, Tomato slices, Lettuce leaves, Olives, Hummus
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, cumin, and smoked paprika. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the chicken breasts to the marinade and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- In a medium bowl, mix Greek yogurt, feta cheese, grated cucumber, dill, mint, and lemon zest for the tzatziki. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and charred.
- Let the chicken rest before slicing into strips.
- Warm the pita breads on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the gyros by spreading tzatziki on pita, adding sliced chicken and your choice of toppings.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
Marinating the chicken overnight enhances flavor and tenderness. Strain the cucumber for a thicker tzatziki sauce.
