Description
A quick and healthy Chinese cabbage stir fry, rich in flavor and perfect for busy weekdays or a light dinner.

- 1 medium head of Chinese cabbage (about 1.5 lbs), chopped
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1 carrot, julienned
- Optional: 1 bell pepper, sliced
- Optional: 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- Optional: 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- Optional: 1 tablespoon chili sauce
Instructions
- Wash the Chinese cabbage thoroughly and chop into bite-sized pieces.
- Prepare any optional add-ins such as carrots or bell peppers.
- Mince the garlic and mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar in a bowl.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- If using, add optional vegetables and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Add chopped cabbage and stir-fry for 5–7 minutes until wilted but still slightly crisp.
- Pour in the prepared sauce and toss to coat evenly.
- Season with salt and pepper, stir-fry for another 2 minutes.
- Drizzle with sesame oil, remove from heat, and serve immediately.
Notes
Avoid overcooking to maintain a slight crunch in the cabbage. Prep all ingredients beforehand, as stir-frying is a fast process.
