Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Optional: 1 tsp dried basil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add optional garlic powder, oregano, and basil if using.
  3. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  4. Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Punch down the dough and roll it out to desired thickness.
  7. Transfer dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Add toppings of choice.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until crust is golden and crisp. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

Use a pizza stone for a crispier base. Avoid using cold water, and don’t over-flour during kneading. Let dough rise longer if you want a thicker crust.
