- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil

- Optional: 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (for chocolate pizzelles)
- Optional: 1 teaspoon anise extract (for traditional flavor)
- Optional: Zest of 1 lemon or orange (for a citrusy twist)
- Optional: 1/4 cup finely chopped nuts (such as almonds or hazelnuts)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, mix the almond milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until the batter is smooth. Fold in any optional add-ins if using.
- Preheat your pizzelle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Lightly spray the pizzelle maker with non-stick cooking spray.
- Drop a tablespoon of batter onto each grid of the pizzelle maker.
- Close the lid and cook for 30-45 seconds or until the pizzelles are golden brown and crisp.
- Carefully remove the pizzelles with a spatula and place on a wire rack to cool.
- Repeat with the remaining batter.
Notes
Make sure your pizzelle maker is well preheated and greased to avoid sticking. Don’t overmix the batter, and keep an eye on cooking time to prevent burning.
