Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Optional: 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Optional: 1 egg
  • Optional: 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground lamb or beef with onion, parsley, and mint.
  2. Add cumin, allspice, cinnamon, coriander, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. If using, add garlic, cayenne pepper, egg, and breadcrumbs. Combine well.
  4. Preheat grill or oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Shape into meatballs or form onto skewers.
  6. Brush with olive oil.
  7. Place on grill or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Cook 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  9. Let rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a mix of lamb and beef for extra juiciness. Chill the mixture before shaping for easier handling. Avoid over-mixing to keep meatballs tender.
