Description
Juicy and flavorful Moroccan kofta meatballs infused with bold spices and fresh herbs perfect for a cozy dinner or festive gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Optional: 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- Optional: 1 egg
- Optional: 1/4 cup pine nuts
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, parsley, and mint. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly by hand until well combined. Add breadcrumbs and egg if mixture feels too loose.
- Shape into small golf-ball-sized meatballs (about 20).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook meatballs in batches without overcrowding the pan, turning occasionally until browned and cooked through (about 8–10 minutes).
- Transfer cooked meatballs to a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve warm with sides, pita, or yogurt sauce.
Notes
Do not overmix the meat to avoid tough meatballs. Let them rest after cooking to keep them juicy. Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure even browning.
