  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Optional: 1 cup spinach or kale
  • Optional: 1 cup cooked sausage, sliced
  • Optional: 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • Optional: 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes and broth; bring to a simmer.
  5. Add gnocchi and cook for 3-5 minutes until they float to the top.
  6. Lower the heat and stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. If using spinach or kale, add now and cook until wilted.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Use fresh gnocchi for best texture. Adjust red pepper flakes to control spice level. Add a squeeze of lemon juice at the end for brightness.
